Oldham Council is helping the Citizens Advice to support people who are struggling with debt. It sees the town hall adopt Citizens Advice’s Council Tax Collection Protocol.

Staff at the Victoria Unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital have been awarded the prestigious Christie Quality Mark accreditation for a second time. They were first awarded the quality mark in 2015.

More than 2,000 people signed a petition urging town hall chiefs to keep the centre open last year and local MP's Debbie Abrahams, Jim McMahon and Angela Rayner met with potential 
 
It is hoped thsat this will provide a lifeline for the local residents who use the centre, many who are disabled. Rent for the first year will be free, before it increases year on year. The Groups using the centre include Age UK, the Alzheimer’s Society and Pennine Care.
 

 
Warm Homes Oldham has been set up by Oldham Council, along with the NHS and local housing partners also includes EON, JNR Contracting Ltd, Age UK Oldham and Auriga Services. It provides help to local residents who are  struggling to pay energy bills

£340,000 of new electronic fetal monitoring equipment is being installed into the labour wards and obstetric theatres across maternity units at The Royal Oldham Hospital and North Manchester General and will be in place and operational by February 2017.

Oldham Council are celebrating  Peace Week from Wednesday 21 September and Monday 26 September.A week of reflection and action on peace, starting on the United Nation International Day of Peace on 21 September.
 
Oldham Council became the first local authority in the UK to sign the Pledge to Peace in 2015. Oldham Peace week will involve the public, schools, the community, faith groups and businesses in Oldham.
 
13 local organisations have joined us in signing the pledge and  formed the Oldham Pledge to Peace Forum.
 
Activities will take place throughout the week including a Peace Day celebration event at Gallery Oldham and Oldham Library on Saturday 24 September from 1 to 4 pm – with the launch of a new peace book section, live music, entertainment, poetry and book readings, and a technology section with Hack Oldham and Roamer the Robot. 
 
Legoland Discovery Centre at The Trafford Centre in Manchester will be there on the day with its Master Model Builder, Alex Bidolak. He will be hosting LEGO Building Workshops and giving away prizes for the best build.
 
There will be a Peace Picnic in Dunwood Park on Sunday 25 September with arts and crafts, face painting and family entertainment between 1 to 3pm.
