A solar farm at Wrigley Head in Failsworth has been approved by Oldham Council at Wrigley Head in Failsworth.
It could reduce CO2 emissions by 50 tonnes a year as well as reducing the Council's energy bills. The farm will produce significant amounts of renewable energy, which will contribute towards carbon neutral targets. This forms part of the Green New Deal Strategy and the Creating Better place programme.
The Wrigley Head project takes on a site which was an industrial landfill site: there will be wildflower planting and and access through the site for wild animals. The Council will own the site and will spend £1.35 on construction and the plan will contribute towards the Greater Manchester target of an extra megawatt (MW) of solar power by 2025 target as part of their five year envronmental plan.
