Local primary school children are being asked to name the Oldham Council gritters this winter. A simliar competition two years ago saw the vehicles given names such as Freddie Salted and Gritney Spears.
The 2014 competition saw local children the chance to come up with imaginative titles for eight of its vehicles that keep the roads free of snow and ice.
Winning entries for the 2014 competition were Freddie Salted, Grittersaurus, Goliath, Walter the Salter, Gritterbug, Gritney Spears, and Thor.
Amongst the hundreds of other suggestions were Usain Salt, Gary Gritter, Gritter Garbo, Grit Britain, Walter Gritty.
The competition is open to primary school children in Oldham and the closing date is November 30.
