An open air gym is being built in Churchill Playing Fields in Greenfield with 40K worth of equipment from housing developers as part of infrastructure contributions.
The project will also involve drainage and landscaping of woodland footpaths. It is hoped there will be an activity open day when the work is completed, with a sports
scientist and personal trainer in attendance. The maintenance and upkeep of the area will be funded from £150K allocated towards open spaces, as part of the
planning permission for the development at Shaw Hall Bank Road.
Churchill Playing fields is a focal point for the local community and the "open air gym" is part of a plan to get people more active and involved in the outdoor life.
