Oldham's Nicola White celebrated as part of Team GB's Great Britain's Olympic hockey team win their first ever gold medal by beating defending champions the Netherlands in a dramatic penalty shootout.
The final finished 3-3 in normal time, with Britain's keeper Maddie Hinch making a string of incredible saves.
The current world champions Holland, could not beat Hinch in the shootout, which Britain won 2-0.Helen Richardson-Walsh and Hollie Webb scored the decisive penalties to win Britain's 24th gold at Rio 2016.
It was a proud moment for Oldham as local hero Nicola White and her teamates went into wild celebrations after the final whistle. The Olympic Gold followed on from a bronze medal at London 2012.
Everyone from her old school, Hulme Grammar School in Oldham, was proud of her achievements and she was described as an inspiration to all their pupils.
