Thirty six year old Northern Ireland defender Aaron Hughes is reportedly considering an offer from Oldham Athletic, he played in three matches at Euro 2016, taking him to 103 international caps.

Hughes has spent the bulk of his career in the top flight with Newcastle, Aston Villa and Fulham and has been left without a club since a brief spell in Australia with Melbourne City.

His association with Latics new boss Stephen Robinson could persuade him to link up with the former Northern Ireland coach in his first managerial post.

It would be a great signing for Latics if it comes off and would be a major coup for the new boss.
