A major transformation of Oldham town centre has been approved at a recent planning committee meeting at Oldham Council
The exciting news came on June 8th with the redevelopment of The Spindles shopping centre providing the catalyst.
The Spindles centre will be repurposed and will provide a new home for the Tommyfield Market New retail areas and new venues for work, leisure and entertainment will be established.
Cllr Amaanda Chaddertton described it as breathing new life into the town centre, creating a fantastic mixed-used building which offers something for everyone including shopping, entertainment, food and drink, culture, event space and places for businesses to grow.
The lower mall and will connect to a brand new split-level Tommyfield Market, which will be built in and around the former TJ Hughes unit.
A dedicated food and drink court will connect to Parliament Square. There will also be new events space for public and private use with a rooftop terrace offering views across Oldham. Food market and events spaces will open until late.
