The £10m Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Oldham which opened in December last year,  has received the Laing Buisson award for Public Private Partnership for 2023.

The one-stop-shop for checks, scans and tests is set up to provide up to 9 million additional tests a year by 2025.

Up to 30,000 patients are diagnosed at the Oldham facility. with the use of cutting edge technology and shorter waiting times for patients. The centre makes diagnostic tests more convenient and deliver multiple tests for patients on the same day externally to the main hospital site, diagnosing disease at an earlier stage and improve the chances of successful treatment for patients.

Community Diagnostic Centres are one stop shops that are being created across the country to deliver MRI, CT and other diagnostic services to patients away from hospitals, so that patients can receive life-saving checks closer to home. These changes will make diagnostic services more accessible and convenient and will help improve outcomes for patients with cancer and other serious conditions.

The recently opened £10 million centre, is located in Salmon Fields, Royton and is one of the country's largest out of hospital diagnostic centres.
