Oldham Council are committed to the implementation of the Foundation Living Wage for the care services it commissions from the independent sector.
This is to help the current cost of living crisis and as part of this on 21 September 2022, the Living Wage Foundation rate of £9.90 per hour will be for staff working across the care services across Oldham.
The Living Wage Foundation Rate, or ‘Real Living Wage’ is a voluntary rate, which is intended to fully take in to consideration the cost of living.
The increased costs of fuel to food are making it so people’s wages have to stretch much further. This is why I’m proud that we’ve implemented the Foundation Living Wage for staff working in care services we commission. Many of these staff both work and live in Oldham so it’s a real benefit for people who live in the Borough
The council will now be working with all agencies to ensure that these increases in the living wage are passed on to the staff who work for them.
