A new Youth Hub was recently launched in the new Get Oldham Working offices on Union Street  as part of a new initiative to help  young people who are thinking about getting a job or returning to training.

The event saw various organisations pledged their support to Oldham’s young people – these can be seen on the Council’s Youtube Channel (link)

Councillor Shoab Akhtar, Cabinet Member for Employment and Enterprise, said:

“The youth hub is so important to our young people of Oldham as it will be a hub where they can get advice and support from organisations under one roof.

“I encourage others to get involved in the Youth Hub, by pledging to how you will plan on supporting the youth of Oldham.

“My message to young people is this – if you’re looking to get a job, change career, or go back to learning, get in touch with the youth hub.

“Members of the team will support you to get you where you want to be on your path to a career.”

The Youth Hub is based at its new headquarters on the ground floor of the First Choice Homes Building on Union Street, 22 Union St, Oldham OL1 1BE.

Both Get Oldham Working and Positive Steps are open 9 – 5, Monday to Friday.  Positive Steps have a focused Careers Drop In for 16 – 18 year olds on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
