The Oldham Youth Orchestra has once again been given a national award from the Music for Youth Organisations, one of seven performers or organisations across the country to receive the Music for Youth Connects award, following a performance at the Symphony Hall London earlier this year.

As winners of the award,  Oldham Music Centre’s Youth Orchestra will go to the new £57m Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in March 2019 and will perform and record two exclusive pieces of music in the state of the art concert hall.

Oldham Youth Brass Band was also awarded first prize for the best performance of a march and second overall out of a field of twelve bands after taking part in the Yorkshire and Humberside Brass Band Association’s Pogson Bray contest, they competed against adult bands from across the Yorkshire region.
