After a year-long refurbishment Saddleworth Museum Museum and Art Gallery re-opened its doors on 17th September 2016.
The Museum stands in a historic and beautiful location beside the Huddersfield Canal in the village of Uppermill
The museum is an independent museum run as a registered charity and a charge is made for entry to the museum galleries.
The museum tells the story of the people who have created Saddleworth’s landscape and character anddisplays change regularly making use of material stored in their archives.
Art and craft exhibitions change every six weeks and showcase the best local and regional art, photography and local craft, and is often for sale
The Museum has excellent access for the disabled and the museum shop sells a wide range of unique items locally sourced.
The visitor information centre in the shop gives advice on travel, accommodation, events, activities and information for walkers within the Saddleworth area.
